About Grout Genie
The Grout Genie scrubbing pad is unique. It has an affixed twin-row polypropylene bristle brush that enables you to quickly and easily deep clean your grout, while the absorbent microfiber pad collects the dirt (fig 2). Next, use the Grout Genie cleaning & finishing pad to clean the tile surface. The Grout Genie cleaning & finishing pad can also be used on other hard surfaces, such as finished wood, laminates, vinyl or linoleum flooring. For the first time, you can clean your grout and other hard surfaces using your Swiffer® WetJet® without resorting to hands and knees
From conception, Grout Genie pads were designed from the user’s perspective. We visited many homes to understand the consumers’ wants and needs. As stone & tile care professionals, we understand the micro-environment of grout and the difficulty in cleaning it. We thoroughly tested several different designs of the Grout Genie scrubbing and finishing pads in real-world situations to arrive at the current product family. Grout Genie pads have been specifically designed to work with Swiffer® WetJet® mops.
Why don’t my regular floor pads clean grout?
Grout is a construction material used to seal the joints between tiles. Sanded grout (grout made with silica sand) is the type of grout most commonly used in conjunction with ceramic, porcelain and natural stone floor tiles. While silica sand makes sanded grout incredibly durable, it unfortunately also gives grout a rough texture and absorbent characteristics.
Cleaning your tiled floor with a mop and bucket or a floor cleaning device, such as a Swiffer® WetJet®, uses liquid (water or a cleaning solution) to loosen the dirt so it can be mopped up or collected with an absorbent pad. However, this method creates a sludge which is invariably pushed into the grout joints. When the liquid in this sludge evaporates, nearly all the dirt is left behind—captured by the coarse and absorbent nature of the grout. (fig 1) Ironically, the more you clean your floor tiles with traditional methods the dirtier your grout will become.
